Some wedding days come with blazing sunshine, and others arrive with rain clouds that bring their own kind of magic. Millie and Ieuan’s Hilltop Barn wedding in June was one of those days where the raindrops didn’t dampen the mood for a second—in fact, they made the whole celebration feel intimate, warm and full of character.

As a documentary wedding photographer, Hilltop Barn is the kind of venue that lets emotions breathe. Even with the rain gently tapping against the roof (and not so gently at times), there was this lovely sense of coziness inside—family and friends gathered close, sharing stories, laughter and the excitement of the day ahead.

A Barn Wedding Made Better With a Four-Legged Guest

One of my favourite moments from the morning was seeing Millie and Ieuan’s dog trotting around, taking everything in as if they were chief wedding coordinator. There’s something about dogs at weddings that adds a layer of authenticity and comfort—people relax, conversations unfold more naturally, and the photos end up filled with genuine warmth (and dogs which is always better than not having photos of dogs, right?)

The rain meant more time spent indoors, but it didn’t matter for a moment. Hilltop Barn’s rustic charm turned into the perfect backdrop for candid storytelling—guests chatting over drinks, shoes swapped for comfort, and that gentle pre-ceremony anticipation that you can feel in the air. And we still managed to nip outside into the beautiful grounds in when the rain stopped!

A Wedding Gift No One Saw Coming

One of the standout moments of the day—and one I won’t forget in a hurry—came after the speeches. While guests wiped away happy tears and raised glasses, Millie surprised Ieuan with a wedding gift that changed the tone in the best way possible: a sword.

Yes, a real sword.
And the reaction was priceless.

Ieuan’s expression shifted from shock to delight in about half a second, and laughter rippled around the room. It was a moment that perfectly summed up the day—playful, personal, and so completely them. These are the kinds of unscripted memories that documentary photography lives for.

The Moments That Stay

Looking back on Millie and Ieuan’s wedding, what stays with me isn’t the weather - it’s the connection.

Their Hilltop Barn wedding was a reminder that real wedding stories aren’t about perfection. They’re about atmosphere, authenticity, and letting the day unfold in its own way. Rain only made the gathering feel closer. The sword gave everyone a shared moment to remember. And their dog… well, they stole the show every time they walked into frame.

It was a day full of personality, laughter and unfiltered emotion—and an absolute joy to photograph.

Millie and Ieuan’s kind words;

We had the pleasure of Bradley photographing our wedding on 7th June.

We ended up booking Bradley via our neighbours and friends, who got married three weeks before us. We were struggling to find a photographer that produced photos that we liked and our friends told us they had booked Bradley. When we saw his work we knew he was the photographer for us.

Bradley is very professional, but doesn't let that dampen his personality and friendliness. His love for photography and being at weddings (his words!) shines through in his work. Throughout the day we barely noticed Bradley, who seemed to capture all of our best moments regardless. He made us feel very comfortable, despite neither of us like having photos taken, and he even carried the train of my dress in an umbrella whilst we moved locations. Genius hack.

He even managed to capture our dog, Dubhghall, who really wouldn't stay still :D

Bradley sent us our highlight photos the very next day, which was such a quick turnaround that we couldn't believe it! What he managed to capture is beyond anything we hoped for. We love how he captured our moments, but also the reactions of our loved ones, too. The photos are beautiful and we can't wait to see the rest!

If you are looking for a photographer, seriously stop looking, because Bradley is the one you should choose.

Thank you Bradley!
Millie & Ieuan
