Danielle & George's Rain-or-Shine Wedding - Shottle Hall Wedding Photography
Come and take a look at some Shottle Hall Wedding Photography! Danielle and George’s wedding at the stunning venue in Derbyshire was a day packed with love, laughter, and a touch of classic British weather. As a wedding photographer, days like these are a real treat—where the light hits just right, the energy is high, and the couple are all in (even when the skies aren't!).
The morning began with a lovely, calm atmosphere—always a bonus for capturing those pre-wedding moments. Danielle and George were getting ready in rooms just a corridor apart, so I had to put on my best stealth mode to photograph both bridal and groom prep without any surprise run-ins. Timing was everything, especially making sure George didn’t catch a glimpse of Danielle mid-makeup or while getting into her dress!
Weather-wise, the week had been full of grey skies and forecasts of rain, so the dream of an outdoor ceremony at Shottle Hall felt a little uncertain. But Derbyshire had a surprise in store: the clouds parted just long enough for them to say "I do" with the historic Hall as their breathtaking backdrop. It was one of those moments where everything lined up perfectly—and yes, the sun even made a guest appearance.
After the ceremony, we raced through the family photos before the heavens opened. Thankfully, Shottle Hall’s wedding grounds offer plenty of covered spaces and picturesque spots, so we didn’t miss a beat. Danielle and George were total troopers, embracing a bit of drizzle with big smiles and brilliant energy during their couple portraits. Honestly, a little rain only added to the story (and gave the photos some serious mood and romance).
One of the personal highlights? George’s pride and joy—his convertible—made an appearance just as the weather cleared again. We even got a few fun shots with the roof down! It's those small personal touches that make each wedding unique and memorable.
Once the formalities were over, the evening kicked off with a high-energy reception. And let me tell you, they knew how to party. From their first dance to bridesmaids pulling out dancefloor acrobatics, it was one of the most electric atmospheres I’ve captured this year. I was weaving through the action with my camera, catching candid expressions, flying feet, and uncontrollable laughter from start to finish.
What made this day so special wasn’t just the beautiful venue or even the sunshine-and-showers drama—it was how Danielle and George rolled with it all. Their joy was infectious, and their guests brought the energy. As a Derbyshire wedding photographer, these are the kinds of celebrations I live for—real moments, real emotions, and people completely lost in the joy of the day.
If you’re planning your own celebration and are looking for relaxed and natural wedding photography in Derbyshire, I’d love to hear your plans. Whatever the forecast says, we’ll make the most of it—and capture the kind of memories that feel just as good as they look.
