Libby and Christopher’s wedding at Dunstall Barns was one of those beautiful autumn days that had everything: joyful faces, heartfelt moments, a bit of classic British drizzle, and the kind of golden-hour light that makes every frame feel like a movie still. As someone lucky enough to work as a wedding photographer in Nottinghamshire, days like this are a dream to document.
The morning started with a soft October mist and just enough rain to keep everyone watching the skies. But by the time Libby walked down the aisle, the clouds had cleared, and the sun made a timely entrance. It’s always a little bonus when the weather plays along—and this time, it really delivered.
Dunstall Barns was the perfect setting. The barn’s rustic charm paired beautifully with the thoughtful, handmade details Libby and Christopher brought to their day. From the custom seating plan to carefully styled décor touches, every corner felt warm and personal. These kinds of details not only make the day feel more intimate, they also make for incredible photographs.
Throughout the day, I focused on capturing the natural, unscripted moments that really tell the story. The excitement and nerves during the morning prep, the genuine emotion during the ceremony, and the laughter that carried through to the dance floor later on—it was all there. These are the moments that matter most, and what I always aim to preserve when photographing weddings across Nottinghamshire.
One of the highlights came in the late afternoon. As the sun dipped lower, we stole away for some couple portraits in the golden light. The fields surrounding Dunstall Barns glowed, and Libby and Christopher looked completely at ease—just the two of them, taking a quiet moment together. That kind of soft, natural light is always a gift, and it made for some truly special images.
Once the sun set, the party got into full swing. The energy on the dance floor was incredible—everyone letting loose, from family to friends, and yes, even a few dance moves you wouldn’t expect (you know who you are!). I always love documenting the fun and chaos of a packed dance floor—it’s where some of the most honest, joy-filled photos happen.
Before the night ended, we headed outside for a few evening portraits. There’s something magical about those quieter, moody nighttime shots—especially against the backdrop of a beautifully lit venue like Dunstall Barns. It was the perfect way to wrap up a day full of emotion, laughter, and love.
