Rob & Nichola’s Star Trek-Inspired Celebration at the Sitwell Arms Hotel
Every love story is special, but Rob and Nichola’s stood out with its bold personality, heartfelt moments, and a little sci-fi flair. Their wedding at the Sitwell Arms Hotel in Derbyshire was truly one of a kind—a beautiful mix of personal touches, joyful chaos, and unforgettable surprises. Even the rainy weather couldn’t put a damper on the day!
The Sitwell Arms is a charming wedding venue nestled in the Derbyshire countryside, and it provided the perfect setting for Rob and Nichola’s unique celebration. With a welcoming atmosphere and beautiful grounds (even in the drizzle!), it gave their big day the relaxed, joyful feel they wanted.
What made their day so memorable wasn’t just the setting, though—it was all the personal details. Brought together by a shared love of Star Trek, Rob and Nichola included subtle and not-so-subtle nods to the series throughout their wedding. From themed décor to references in the ceremony, their personalities and shared interests shone through. And yes—they were definitely beaming! (I’ll let you decide if that counts as a Star Trek pun…)
One of the absolute highlights? The surprise appearance of singing waiters who had everyone laughing and clapping along. Not to mention the stormtroopers—yes, actual stormtroopers—who joined the party and were a hit with the guests. Add to that a bouncy castle and (planned) helter skelter, and it was clear this was a couple who wanted their guests to have just as much fun as they did.
While the weather kept the helter skelter grounded, the bouncy castle still brought out plenty of laughs before the rain came down. Rain or shine, the entire day was a celebration of love, laughter, and the joy of two people doing things their way.
Capturing weddings like this at venues such as the Sitwell Arms in Renishaw is why I love what I do. The emotion, the energy, and the unexpected moments—those are what make great wedding photography.
