St Mary’s Hub Lichfield Wedding Photographer

Brigid & Joseph’s Winter Wedding - Lichfield Wedding Photographer
There’s no better way to start a new year than by documenting a love story—and on January 3rd, that’s exactly how I kicked off my 2025 wedding season. With my final booking of last year falling just days before, on December 28th, it’s shaping up to be a wonderfully busy run—but let’s start at the beginning.
While most people were still making their way through leftover Christmas chocolates, I was dusting off the camera gear, wrapping up warm, and heading out to photograph Brigid and Joseph’s wedding in the heart of Lichfield, Staffordshire. And this wasn’t your typical one-stop wedding day—we had not one, but two beautiful church venues.
The morning began with a heartfelt ceremony at a traditional church, where Brigid and Joseph tied the knot surrounded by friends and family. As always, there were a few emotional moments, plenty of smiles, and the classic wedding-day ring pocket pat (panic averted—they were safely tucked away after all).
After the ceremony, we took a short walk into the centre of Lichfield to St Mary’s Hub, a hidden gem of a venue located above the library in a stunningly renovated church space. If you’re after a wedding venue that blends history with modern charm, this one’s worth a look. Full of character and right in the heart of the city, it was the perfect place to continue the celebrations—not to mention, it was warm (a January essential).
Being a wedding photographer in Lichfield during winter definitely comes with its quirks. The weather, while unpredictable, gave us a crisp, dry day with soft natural light—ideal for outdoor portraits. Brigid and Joseph were total stars, embracing the chilly conditions with nothing but joy and laughter. And yes, we worked fast to capture those magical outdoor moments before dashing inside for warmth!
Inside St Mary’s Hub, the atmosphere was electric. The best man kicked things off in style with a brilliant bagpipe performance, setting the tone for an evening of celebration. The speeches were just the right mix of heartfelt and hilarious, with a bit of gentle ribbing for the groom (as tradition demands), and the dance floor came alive soon after—with moves that ranged from impressive to wildly enthusiastic.
It was an incredible way to begin a new year of storytelling. Brigid and Joseph’s day reminded me exactly why I love being a wedding photographer in Staffordshire—the genuine connections, the beautiful backdrops, and the pure joy of two people celebrating their love with everyone they care about.
If you’re planning a wedding in Lichfield or anywhere across Staffordshire, and want relaxed, natural photography that captures both the big moments and the little in-between ones, I’d love to hear from you. Whether it’s in a grand venue, a cosy converted church, or somewhere completely unexpected, I’ll be there—camera in hand, ready to tell your story.
